Since current Hebrew is heavily influenced with the ways the words were used in the text (and is not as easy as to translate write my essay into German or Spanish), rather than the reverse (the text depending on the current meanings), I'm not sure if my objection is valid, but at least for modern speakers use the verb "chara" includes a strong connotation of resentments (quite possibly because of its uses in this particular verbs). 
 
When I say "chore li she ..." I don't simply mean that I'm angry over something. I actively resent whatever has angered me. I would therefore say Cain burned with resentment rather than burned with anger. 
 
That is so even if elsewhere (e.g. in Genesis 18:30) the meaning is simply "be angry". 
 
Another nuance which is hard to convey in English is that the angry person is the _object_ of the verb rather than the subject: "vayichar le-Cain". It's not that Cain is burning with anger, but rather than the anger was burning in him (burning to him, in the literal Hebrew)
